Christopher Witt is a speech consultant and coach with more than 30 years of professional speaking experience. His book, Real Leaders Don’t Do PowerPoint, sets out his common-sense approach and his willingness to buck commonly accepted — and counterproductive — trends. In it Witt makes a clear and compelling case for leaders and aspiring leaders who want to establish themselves as someone worth listening to.

As president of San Diego-based Witt Communications, LLC he has shown CEOs how to gain board approval and company-wide support for their initiatives…helped teams of technical experts win multi-million dollar contracts…empowered newly promoted managers…and enabled self-employed entrepreneurs to grow their businesses. He’s done all that by showing them how to get dramatically better results from their speeches and presentations.

“Geared toward those looking to get a leg up at work, shape their ideas and overcome the public speaking jitters, Witt’s quick, witty instructional makes a fine addition to the office arsenal.” – Publishers Weekly

Witt’s approach challenges what has become conventional practice in the business world and, increasingly, in other arenas: the over-reliance on PowerPoint. He takes a contrarian stand, making the case for PowerPoint’s limited ability to help presenters communicate information. But — and here is where he parts company with the mainstream — he maintains that PowerPoint can’t help leaders do what they should be doing, which is to influence and inspire their audiences, not to communicate information.

Witt combines a background in education, counseling, and ministry with advanced training in public speaking, communications, and emotional intelligence. He holds a doctorate from Catholic University of America and has co-authored three previous books and numerous articles.

He’s presented to the National Speakers Association, Toastmasters International, the National Communications Association, Institute of Management Consultants, and the Society of Human Resource Managers. He’s also the past president of the San Diego chapter of the Institute of Management Consultants. His clients include IBM, AT&T, Sempra Energy, Biogen-Idec, Booz-Allen-Hamilton, Northrop Grumman, Intuit, Pfizer, Marriott, SAIC, Kaiser Permanente, Sheraton, the San Diego Zoo, and the School of Medicine at Yale University.

“Real Leaders is a very effective book for anyone who has to present ideas to an audience, whether you are an experienced speaker or not.” – Sacramento Book Review

As you would expect, Witt is a captivating speaker who exemplifies the principles he advocates. He engages his audience’s hearts and minds, entertaining them while educating them. He changes the way people think about speeches and gives them practical tips they can use whether they’re speaking to one other person or to a packed auditorium.
